The Vertical Grit Separator (VGS) removes the sand and grit from most
wastewater treatment facilities while the plant remains on line and without
removing the water or biomass.

The sand and grit is removed through a hydro-shovel with extension
handles and special hydraulic pumps to the VGS, where the sand and grit
is separated from the water and biomass.  The water and biomass is
returned to the facility for further processing, and the sand and grit is
deposited through the screw conveyors into trucks for disposal.

We manufacture various types of hydro-shovels which are adapted to
specific job requirements.

SSMI can lime stabilize the extracted sand and grit, if required.
